The site was restricted and within a Conservation Area. Guy and the client worked closely with the Local Planning Authority on the project from a very early stage, leading to planning consent being obtained for the construction of two spacious holiday cottages and a pool building. Externally the appearance of the buildings was designed to be as sympathetic as possible to their surroundings. The pool building includes a Turkish-inspired hammam (steam room) and party room.
Despite the contractor ceasing trading during construction the project was finished to a high standard whilst using materials and finishes that are easy to maintain — essential for rental properties.
Since opening for business in late 2011 the properties have received rave reviews and numerous repeat bookings.
